Day 2 Highlights

So it wouldn't be an event if there wasn't any drama involved...Okay - so part of the reason I was late to Ingrid's show was because I dropped my cell phone somewhere between the entrance and the other side of the damn street on the hill just before you hit the main stage. Seriously in just 50 feet or less, my phone was lost. I ran around like a crazy person trying to find it, went to guest relations, then just said "screw it!" I'll get it after the show! I'm missing Ingrid! Ah - made it to the last 20 minutes or so of her show and now its over, I'm dripping with sweat, and now I have to go try to find Garrett with no cell phone to call him, since I left him in the parking lot to sell our two extra tickets...hmmmm...well, it was so easy to find him, we pretty much walked right into each other, which was crazy, since it was SO crowded with tons of people everywhere. Next I had to find my cell phone...back to guest relations. I asked the person at the tent, and then the girl behind me passed out, probably from heat exhaustion. People were everywhere, but the other guy at the tent freed up and showed me the phones that were returned - sweet! There it was - second easiest find that I needed to check off my list. Now off to the next performance!

On the way other side of the venue at the Lizard Stage - Colbie Caillat was ready for her turn to shine. And that she did - looking super cute in her sundress and straw hat, with her sweet little voice, she opened with Oxygen and the crowd loved her. She seemed kind of shy to me, but I enjoyed her and really like her music (and her drummer LOL).
On our way out of the Lizard Stage, we heard a little bit of Flogging Molly, stopped and waited in line for a lemonade to try to refresh a little, then went to the Main Stage to listen to Rodrigo y Gabriela. They are great guitarists and sounded wonderful, but they weren't continuous in their playing, so I was getting distracted a lot by everyone around me. I left that show early to make it to the Elk Tent in time to be up front for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

Grace was a fucking bad ass! I expected a calm and cooler performance because that is kind of the tone of her album, but she totally rocked out. The music was harder and louder and a sort of mix between 70's rock and a little Tori Amos. I wanted to be as cool as she looked on stage. She was a chick with a cool guitar and a powerful voice. So awesome!
I had to leave the Grace Potter show early so I could get over to John Mayer on the Main Stage. He is my absolute favorite guy to go see in concert. Its actually kind of becoming an obsession, sad to say. As I left the Elk Tent, I already heard his voice, and was totally confused - he wasn't supposed to start for another 15 minutes! What was happening? I met up with Lily and tried to make it as close to the stage as possible, but it wasn't close at all. I could barely see John unless I was looking at the big screen, and the crowd didn't seem into him, so it was kind of lame.

It was pretty funny, though, when he was trying to get girls to show him their boobs. He performed as good as usual, with his typical concert line up and some new songs I've never seen him perform like "Say" and "Stitched Up." During his encore, I snuck further up and the crowd was getting better, I was having way more fun now...and then he decided to give his last song all he had the energy for (what he said was at least 4 more songs) and he took his shirt off!!

DAAAAMMNN!! He looked mighty fine, my crush on him is growing, every time I see him in concert! Ooh, la, la :) It was my lucky day (and every other girl's in the crowd) LOVED IT! The day couldn't get any better! And there was one more act left.

I was wearing down, I had so much excitement throughout the day seeing so many of my favorite artists. Again, I wasn't psyched for the headliner, which I should have, since I've been wanting and wanting to see Dave Matthews Band for years. I was just so tired!

I hung out and when DMB came on, I made the most of it, but there was only so much jamming I could take after all the rest of the fantastic music I saw that weekend. I felt that DMB was a little over rated, but it was a good experience to see them, and it will probably be my first and last DMB show I see. I don't think its worth all the trouble to get tickets.

Overall, I had such a great time with family and friends and even though I'm STILL tired from it, I'm ready to go again next year if the right musicians are there again! Way to go Sandisk and KBCO - you did a great job organizing, see you next time!
