You would think going to Phoenix would be a relief from the freezing cold temperatures in Denver - WRONG! I couldn't believe how cold it was in Arizona. This weekend was the moment of truth - the Rock n Roll Marathon - in my case, the half marathon! The race was a huge event - about 38,000 people! With that said, everywhere we went was a mad house. The expo, the shuttle to the start line, the finish line. Although it was so crowded everywhere else, the run was pleasant with plenty of room for everyone. I felt good until I hit mile 10, then it seemed like the 11 mile marker was nonexistent. I dug deep, though and finally reached mile marker 11 and told myself to suck it up, why give up now, after all, this was the moment I had been training for the last 2 months. I was so proud of myself for pushing through and running the entire race and finishing within the goal time I set for myself before the race started. Definitely a great sense of accomplishment.
Yes, the race was the main occasion for going to Phoenix, but it was also a great opportunity to visit one of my best friends. It was also wonderful to have another best friend from CO down in Phoenix and to be able to spend the entire weekend with the two of them - thanks girls for such a fun time! Congratulations on your great achievement and the completion of your first half marathon!
