I must be having fun, b/c time sure is flying. For the past month, I've been doing contract work for a new company called Entitlement & Engineering Solutions in downtown Denver. Last week I worked 5 days - I haven't worked 5 days in one week for over a year - crazy, I know. Although I wouldn't call working 'fun' - I am very thankful for the opportunity. Going downtown everyday has been quite the adjustment. I've always driven to a job, where now I am driving to the lightrail and riding it 30 minutes to get to the workplace. I feel like I have to really be on top of my game, being prepared for lunch, entertainment on the train, and getting to the station on time (hmmm...they don't seem to wait for you if you're late) and early (there doesn't ever seem to be enough parking). Overall, though, its nice to be doing something different and to have work at all to say the least.
Garrett's been working from home. He really enjoys working for himself so far and is trying to decide how much he really wants to do it long term. Garrett's dad helped him form a business called Gemsbok Consulting Group when we got back from our trip. He already has two projects that are keeping him pretty busy and providing him great learning experiences in wastewater treatment plants and how to run a company. Its been great so far. Even though we're not exactly sure what the future holds work and career-wise, things are working out just fine and I think I can speak for both of us when I say we are pretty content and happy with life!
