Blessing in Disguise

The economy has not been friendly in the least to the construction, surveying, or civil engineering industry. I've seen many lay-offs happen at not only my company but other firms around the area. The beginning of the year was stressful for me, not knowing if or when I might be laid off. However, I have survived thus far only being affected by reduced hours.

With everything else going on outside of work, I feel that the reduced hours have been a blessing in disguise. Garrett and I are taking our PE Exams in two weeks, so its given me more time to prepare for that. I've also used the extra time to get some wedding planning in. Its been very nice not having to sacrifice being active to get the studying and planning in. I've been able to keep climbing at least twice a week and get out for a jog or two also!

I feel so fortunate that I'm in the position I'm in, only having myself to support during this recession. If I had a family, these times would be a lot rougher and the next time this situation comes around, I might not be in such a position. For now, I've been getting all too used to the new schedule and probably establishing bad habits that will be hard to break when things are back in full swing! Thankfully, I am going to take advantage of it while I can!
