And the Passion is Gone...
I didn't want to get a ski pass this year - I only wanted to get 2 four packs - one to the front range mountains and one to Monarch, which included 2 days at CB. But, I was easily talked into getting the 5 mountain pass that includes unlimited riding at 3 mountains and 10 days to Vail and BC. I wasn't too excited about it, since the last couple years haven't been as fun as it was to go up in college. Of course, its something to do and its not like its a horrible time, its just not how I remember it being. So when things like this happen, you think about the causes, and it pretty much comes down to one thing. TOO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. DAMN - should it really take you 3 hours to drive 70 miles? On weekends, it is bumper to bumper all up I-70 from Golden to Silverthorne. Simple solution? Get a hotel room for a night and go skiing two days, and skip the traffic! NOPE! Hotel costs 3 times what it costs to drive up and down and up and down, even with gas prices what they are. And then there is the lift line...NEVER go to the bottom of the mountain until you are completely done skiing. You'll be waiting another 30-45 minutes freezing your toosh off. Since when did skiing get so dang popular? Or what is the difference b/w 5 years ago and now? Did I never notice this traffic and waiting in lines before? I must've really loved the sport, or maybe I had more patience? At any rate, my views have obviously changed and the passion is gone...
