New Zealand - Fiordland National Park

Wow, this place is spectacular. Every turn you make it becomes even more beautiful. The last couple days, we spent down in Fiordland National Park, doing daytrips along the Milford Road. For those who do not know what a 'fiord' is, I looked it up, b/c I didn't know either. It means a narrow inlet of the sea between cliffs or steep slopes. Hello! Everything was just amazing and its hard to do a lot of explaining in words, b/c I just can't capture how awesome it is. Luckily for me, Garrett takes a billion pictures wherever we go, so I can show you what it is like!

The first day we hiked the Key Summit, part of the Routeburn Track. It took about an hour to get to the top and had great views of the surrounding area. We still couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

After the hike to the Summit, we drove the rest of the way to Milford, through the steep wet tunnel to arrive on the other side to even more breath taking views. There were waterfalls EVERYWHERE - it was just crazy. The sheer vastness of this place was magnificent and we still couldn't believe it.

The next day, we hiked up to Lake Marian. The hike itself was nothing to write home about. More rainforest with lots of moss and a squishy trail. It also took about an hour to get to the Lake, but it felt more like three hours to me. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky and it made for some great reflections of the surrounding peaks on the water! Too cool!

We were pretty tired from the rough sleep the night before (we pretty much froze), so we didn't do quite as much the 2nd day, just another quick jaunt up to see Humbolt Falls in the Hollyford Valley. About a 15 minute drive up the gravel road and 20 minute return trip to the car - we saw a 3 tier waterfall that was quite impressive :)
