Grandpa Richter lived an amazing 80 years and he will be deeply missed. The celebration of his life took the place of a funeral where many fond memories were recollected in words, music, and photos. It was a very touching service and I loved hearing the stories of family members and close friends and it was like watching a movie when the slideshow of his life played. Grandpa was an astonishing figure in the community and very well respected for all his services. The following by Ralph Waldo Emerson does the best job to describe Grandpa's life and was included in the program for the celebration of his life. We love you Grandpa and you and your heartfelt and loving smile will be missed tremendously! To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!
