Wow - over a month since my last post! That means one of two things - loser for not making time, or I actually have a life these days. I like to believe its the latter.
Anyway, today I was in Hallmark buying a plethera cards for special occasions - graduations (3 in the family this spring - CONGRATS Lorens, Krista, and Eric!), birthdays, and Father's Day (in which I think we get the same card for Garrett's dad EVERY year - the fat guy with the big fish - its great!). As I was standing in the aisle, the lady behind me was stomping her leg she thought the card was so funny. I turned around and realized she was reading the little square cards by fresh ink. I absolutely LOVE those cards - giving them and receiving them, but overall, just reading them! They are the funniest cards in the whole store. I mean - who wouldn't laugh at a little card with a tricycle on it that says, "I thought about getting you a tricycle for your birthday in hopes someone else would buy you a monkey." I got that card for Jerica this year - I couldn't resist. I don't really even know why I thought it was so funny, but it was. And what about the Stephanie card? You'll have to go see that one, and possibly read a few more while in the process of finding that card.
There is something unique about these cards. I can stand in the aisle and read them for an hour, wasting so much precious time. But even though I'm wasting time and should probably be doing something more productive, those cards somehow cheer me up. Maybe its b/c they make me laugh out loud. Possibly its what I see in the reaction of others reading the cards and talking to a complete stranger about it. I believe the main reason, though, is that those cards make me think of my friends and family and realize its them who make life so wonderful and special.
